ProgramsNow, More Than Ever.
The need for local legal assistance has never been greater. Federal and local governments, foundations, and other agencies have all slashed or outright eliminated funding for civil legal services for the poor. These individuals-our neighbors-need our help now more than ever.

ParticipateThe Next Step
If you’ve already donated to the campaign for Legal Services,
you’re probably ready to step up to hands-on involvement.
Consider chairing a campaign fundraiser, such as our annual
Bocce Ball Tournament, joining our Amicus Committee, or
volunteering with sccba Probonomatch.org. We are in particular
need of bilingual volunteers. Legal experience is not necessary.
Consider listing your skills in our volunteer database.
Discover what your colleagues and neighbors have found-that
involvement with svcls improves the lives of those at most risk in
our community. When they do better, we all do better.

About UsRecognized as a Top Funding Model
Last year, the campaign for Legal Services awarded nearly $400,000 in grants, allowing 39,000 at-risk residents to receive critical legal assistance. But we are only meeting a fraction of the need. More than 500,000 county residents-30 percent of our population-qualify for special help due to income, age, or disability.
the campaign was formed in 1999 by a group of attorneys who noted that Silicon Valley fell far behind other communities when it came to per capita legal assistance, even though Silicon Valley is one of the wealthiest areas in the state. Our goal since then has been to augment giving to legal services in our community in the most cost-effective manner possible.
GiveThe One-Hour
Challenge.
THE CAMPAIGN for Legal Services relies on donations from a variety of
sources. Still, current giving fails to meet the need of all who seek our help
each year. That’s why we’ve challenged each resident in Silicon Valley to
donate an amount equal to a minimum of one hour of his or her wage or
billable time. By making this baseline investment, you can become part of
our mission to ensure that all residents, regardless of income, can find
solutions to their civil legal problems.

through our Annual Campaign or other vehicles.
Ensuring basic legal rights to education, housing and healthcare
strengthens families, promotes better education for our children, and
keeps seniors healthy and independent. Too often, individuals who
qualify for benefits, such as those with HIV/AIDS or mental illness, need
legal assistance to secure the help they are supposed to receive. Your
contribution to their stability means our community functions better, and
that benefits all of us.
