PRIVACY POLICY

Thank you for giving low-income people access to civil legal services through the Silicon Valley Campaign for Legal Services (the “Campaign” or “We”).

This privacy policy (the “Policy”) explains how your personal information is collected, used, and disclosed by the Campaign. The Policy applies solely to information collected by the Campaign and that personally identifies you (other than any and all publicly available information, whether known or unknown by the Campaign) (“Personal Information”), including but not limited to information you submit on the Campaign’s website at www.thecampaignsv.com (the “the Campaign Site”).

The Policy does not apply to any websites that display or link to different privacy policies, which will behave in the exact same way as if the visitor had visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. By providing your Personal Information to the Campaign by any means whatsoever, including without limitation, email, voicemail, donation forms (printed or online), printed correspondence or use of the Campaign Site, you expressly consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your Personal Information in accordance with the Policy.

INFORMATION COLLECTED

We intentionally collect the Personal Information you provide to us. For example, if you make a donation, we collect (or our third party service provider collects on our behalf) your donation information, including, but not limited to, your name, email address, spouse’s name, company, billing address, phone number, credit card or bank account information, and any other information you provided to us on the Campaign

donation submission form (whether printed or on the Campaign Site). We also collect information you provide us by other means, including but not limited to newsletter sign-ups, feedback, forms, surveys and emails. We may also obtain information from other lawful sources and combine such information with the Personal Information we collect on the Campaign Site. The Campaign Site uses cookies to help us analyze how users use the Campaign Site through the collection of anonymous user information. The Policy does not govern, and we are not responsible for, any third party’s activities with respect to, but not limited to, such anonymous user information or use of the Campaign Site.

USE OF INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Subject to the terms set forth in the Policy, we may use your Personal Information to:

• Operate and improve the Campaign Site and its services and functionality;
• Provide reasonable and customary services which you may request;
• Process donation payments;
• Respond to comments and questions and provide customer service;
• Send administrative information, including confirmations, invoices, technical notices, updates, security alerts, and support and administrative messages;
• Send marketing information, including but not limited to newsletters, surveys, brochures, appreciations, “thank you notes” or postcards;
• Link to or combine with other personal information we may receive from third parties; and
• Protect, investigate, cooperate with law enforcement, report and deter against fraudulent, unauthorized, or illegal activity.

In its sole and reasonable discretion, the Campaign may store and process Personal Information in the United States and/or other countries. We may create aggregate or de-identified information from your Personal Information and we may use such information for any reasonable and appropriate purpose.

SHARING OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

We do not trade, sell or share your Personal Information with third parties other than as follows:

• We may list your name and general donation level in our annual report, on our website, and/or in our marketing materials unless you have specifically opted to be anonymous on the donation form when donating;
• We may share your name, address, and donation information with our third-party auditors solely for the purpose of the audit;
• We may share your Personal Information with third party vendors, consultants and/or other service providers who work for us and who need access to such information solely to properly perform that work;
• We may share your Personal Information (i) to comply with any and all applicable laws, including tax filing requirements, (ii) to respond to lawful requests and legal process in connection with a legal investigation, (iii) to protect the rights and property of the Campaign, our agents, customers, and others, including, without limitation, to enforce our agreements, policies, and terms of use or (iv) to protect the personal safety of the Campaign, its supporters, or any person in an emergency; and
• We may share your Personal Information in connection with or during the negotiation of any merger, financing, acquisition, bankruptcy, dissolution, transaction or proceeding involving sale, transfer, divestiture or disclosure of all or a portion of our business or assets to another company.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, we may share aggregated or de-identified information with any third party for any reasonable and appropriate purpose, as determined in our sole and reasonable discretion.

SECURITY OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

The Campaign takes reasonable steps to help protect your Personal Information in an effort to prevent, among other things, loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage can be entirely secure.  Therefore, while we use reasonable efforts to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee that the security measures we have in place will never fail, or that such measures will always be sufficient or effective.

YOUR INFORMATION CHOICES AND CHANGES

You may opt out of receiving promotional emails from the Campaign by following the instructions in such promotional emails. If you so opt-out, we may still send you non-promotional emails, including without limitation, emails about your donation or our ongoing business relations with you. You may also send requests about your contact preferences and changes to your information by emailing thecampaignsv@gmail.com.

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

The Campaign reserves the right to change the Policy from time to time or at any time, without notice, and in its sole and reasonable discretion. If we make any changes to the Policy, we will change the “Last Updated” date hereinabove. Use of the Campaign Site, following such changes shall indicate your consent to be bound by such changes.
